At the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Nissan fans and gamers alike were able to see one of the automaker’s latest virtual concepts brought to life. The Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, which captured the attention of festival attendees, will star next month in the Gran Turismo 6 video game.
When the vehicle becomes available for gamers to drive this month, it will join a long line of virtual Nissan vehicles.
“We have 149 cars in the PlayStation Game,” said Taisuke Nakamura, design director for Nissan Design Europe. “People are quite enthusiastic to race a car in a virtual environment. It’s a new styling challenge without any constraints, boundaries, so it was a purely design challenge from our side to see how much we can go further to achieve an attractive design. It’s like a virtual motor show to me.”
For many, Nissan’s partnership with the video game is much more than just a show. It is through this game that racing’s next great drivers begin their training as they compete for entrance into Nissan’s GT Academy, and eventually the race track.
That’s all the excuse we at Lewis Nissan need to play on!
