2017 Nissan Rogue Sport Debuts in Detroit, Coming This Spring

Fresh off of seeing the Nissan Rogue break the automaker’s all-time single-month sales record in December with 40,477 units shipped, Nissan has revealed a new offering geared toward crossover shoppers who want something just a bit smaller: the 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport.

“The new Rogue Sport is a perfect addition to the red-hot Rogue lineup, which is also adding a first-ever Rogue Hybrid model for 2017,” said Michael Bunce, vice president of Product Planning for Nissan North America. “With Rogue Sport’s slightly smaller dimensions and sporty maneuverability, it’s ideal for singles or couples without kids—or empty nesters—who want a sportier vehicle and can live with a little less cargo capacity than the current Rogue offers.”

Held up to the 2017 Rogue, the Nissan Rogue Sport boasts a 2.3-inch shorter wheelbase, 12.1-inch shorter length, 0.1-inch shorter width, and 5.6-inch shorter height, all of which serves to make it easier for navigating through cities and pulling into tight parking spots. Still, the Rogue Sport is comparable to its larger sibling in terms of headroom, legroom, hip room, and shoulder room, and its max cargo area is still impressive with up to 22.9 cubic feet with the second row upright and 61.1 cubic feet with the second row folded flat.

The Rogue Sport comes standard with a 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve inline-four mated to an Xtronic transmission, which doles out 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. The Rogue Sport will be offered with Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield tech, including Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Cruise Control, and Forward Emergency Braking.

Set to be released this spring, the Rogue Sport will be offered in S, SV, and SL trim levels. Stay tuned for more information on this hot new crossover as it is released!
