At the 2012 Paris Motor show that took place last week Nissan its newest variant of the Nissan Juke, the Nissan Juke NISMO. With most NISMO upgrades, you normally can expect some sports upgrades such as spoilers, body kits, leather interior with NISMO stitching, and most of all a power upgrade to the engine. But with the Nissan Juke NISMO we got most of that, the thing that was most lacking was the thing we all want the most. The engine upgrade.
Don’t get discouraged, there was a slight power increase in the sporty crossover, it now gets 197 horsepower up from the original 187 horsepower and 184 Lb.-Ft. of Torque; but that’s about it. Everything else seems to be apart of the appearance makeover. The interior gets a facelift and now is garnished in plenty of black suede and red stitching of NISMO that cover much of the crossover including the new bucket seats. The exterior gets a similar appearance treatment with a rear spoiler to help with downforce, a new more “mean” front spoiler to make the car look more aggressive. Though with only 10 horsepower added its hard to believe the Nissan Juke NISMO being any more aggressive than the Nissan Leaf.
That being said here is a nice video detailing the new Juke Variant. We can expect these to hit the European market first, then Japan, ending with the U.S., maybe by the time they get here they will add a few more horsies to the Nissan Juke NISMO.
This week, Kelley Blue Book announced their 10 Most Fuel-Efficient SUVs and Crossovers, giving the 2012 Nissan Juke the number four spot on the list.
The JUKE is a radical little crossover that is part CUV, part sports car and part futuristic art. Creating such an eye-catching vehicle isn’t all that complicated, but to create one that is highly functional, fast, affordable and highly fuel-efficient can be a tough task. This is one tough task in which Nissan has prevailed.
All versions of the 2012 Nissan Juke CUV are fitted with the automaker’s new 1.6-liter “DIG” (Direct Injection Gasoline) inline 4-cylinder that boasts direct fuel injection, turbocharging/intercooling and variable camshaft timing to deliver an impressive mix of performance and economy.
A manual-equipped front-drive Juke can sprint to 60 mph in around seven seconds, while the CVT and AWD each add about a half tick to that baseline figure.
With all this power, the Nissan JUKE still manages to produce some outstanding mpg numbers. Offering a combined 29 mpg, the JUKE has an EPA-estimated 27 mpg city/32 mpg highway.
Combining all the features, styles, and power engines with the impressive fuel economy, the 2012 Nissan JUKE is a no-brainer for drivers looking to save a little cash at the pumps and still get the sporty vehicle they desire.
