The 2016 Nissan Maxima features a brand new 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 engine, and it’s already proving to be quite the thriller. Named to “Wards 10 Best Engines” list, the new Nissan Maxima engine delivers a 15 percent increase in highway fuel economy to 30 miles per gallon, and an impressive output of 85.7 horsepower/liter.
In order to select the engines that will make the Wards 10 Best Engines” list, WardsAuto editors evaluated 31 all-new or improved powertrains available in vehicles with a base price of less than $61,000 for 2016. The two-months of testing included everyday driving – including regular commutes. Factors considered include comparative specs, fuel economy, horsepower, noise attenuation, torque, and new technology.
“When the 2016 Maxima hit dealerships in May, our team believed this redesigned 3.5-liter V6 engine would be an important piece of the puzzle,” said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. in a statement. “To be included in Wards 10 Best Engines list is a tribute to the outstanding design, performance and value of our new-generation Nissan Maxima flagship sedan. We thank everyone at Wards for this significant recognition.”

Be on the lookout in December for the official truck of Texas: The Nissan Titan XD.
After a bit of a disappointing safety rating in 2013 for the Sentra, Nissan amped up the features and focused on creating an all-around safer lineup. And as they say, hard work does indeed pay off. The new 2015 Nissan Sentra earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
According to the IIHS, the most significant improvements were made to the door sill, A-pillar, and front structure which put the test dummy at a lower risk of injury.
In order to score a Top Safety Pick Rating, a car has to earn good ratings in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint test, and a good or acceptable rating in the small overlap front test. The small overlap front test was created in 2012 and added as a qualifying component.

The Nissan Pathfinder is now a repeat winner of a Best Family Car award from KBB.com. After a redesign, the next-generation Pathfinder has been blazing a trail of excellence ever since. The mid-size SUV has landed back-to-back acknowledgements on the Best Family Cars list thanks to its improvements in comfort, roominess, safety technology, and rear entertainment technology.
Those improvements—not to mention best-in-class ratings in towing capacity, passenger volume, and fuel efficiency—made the Pathfinder one of only two mid-size SUVs to make the list. The list is compiled by a panel of expert editors as well as normal families. The cars go through rigorous testing to determine which ones should be included on the list—and the Pathfinder passed all the tests with flying colors.
“Completely redesigned just two years ago, 2015 Pathfinder retains its core values of fun, utility and fresh style while also adding a number of exciting enhancements beneficial for the whole family,” said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. “With plenty of cargo space and interior room, and a smooth ride with solid handling, the 2015 Pathfinder is a classic ‘family-first’ vehicle, and we’re elated to once again be included among Kelley Blue Book’s Best Family Cars.”
Come see us here at Lewis Nissan to see all the features of the new Pathfinder, from the 8.0-inch touch-screen monitor, the EZ Flex Seating System, and a 13-Speaker Bose Premium Audio system. Of course, it also drives pretty well too. Come see us for a test drive today.

Kelley Blue Book® recently released its list of the 12 Best Family Cars of 2014. Of the 12 vehicles on the list, one quarter of them are Nissans.
What constitutes the best family car? According to KBB®, room is a big deal (not surprising when you think of those road trips when all you heard was “He’s touching me!”). Fuel economy, entertainment and overall practicality were also deciding factors. KBB experts tested the vehicles by installing and uninstalling car seats, letting their kids hop in and out, and even checking out the back seat entertainment.
Three of Nissan’s five core models, the 2014 Nissan Altima, Rogue, and Pathfinder, were chosen as the Best Family Cars of 2014. The diversity of Nissan’s winning lineup is a testament to the automaker’s ability to meet customers’ various needs in every segment.
“Each of these vehicles was designed to fit the needs of a wide range of customers and situations, while also being family-friendly,” said Dan Mohnke, Nissan’s vice president of Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations.
“From Pathfinder’s more conventional family profile to Rogue’s wealth of amenities and clever cargo solutions to Altima’s ideal fusion of sportiness and practicality, the mainstream appeal of these vehicles’ designs has been borne out in robust sales numbers and third-party accolades such as these most recent awards from KBB.com.”

Nissan has always been a leader in energy performance and remains there with three new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR accolades on the shelf. This includes the 2013 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award, which is the highest honor given to select organizations that are dedicated to protecting the environment through energy efficiency.
Bill Kruegar, Nissan’s senior vice president of manufacturing, purchasing, production, engineering, and supply chain management, said “Since becoming an ENERGY STAR partner in 2006, we have saved more than 800 billion British thermal units (BTUs) of the energy used to assemble vehicles. That’s enough energy to power the all-electric Nissan LEAF for more than 750 million miles”.
Nissan has always been environmentally friendly, especially since becoming an ENERGY STAR partner back in 2006. The Nissan LEAF is the number one selling EV in the world. I mean who wouldn’t want to help the environment and in what better way than in a stylish EV like the LEAF?
MotorWeek announced the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder as the winner of the “Best Large Utility” category in its annual 2013 Drivers’ Choice Awards. The Pathfinder was redesigned and was recognized for its shift towards increased comfort and luxury compared to earlier models.

This honor solidifies the Pathfinder’s unparalleled versatility, and we sincerely thank MotorWeek for their recognition.”
