Paris Motor Show Spotlight: The Nissan Terra Concept

There has been a lot of talk and a lot of excitement over the Paris Motor Show that began yesterday. But one vehicle has taken the spotlight. The Nissan Terra Concept is the new zero emissions, off-road concept that runs on fuel cells. Similar to Nissan Xterra, the Nissan Terra is an SUV that built withstand the off-road experience.

The Terra Concept has a design style similar to that of the Nissan Juke, but has a taller more bold stance that lets you know that its ready for the dirt road. It is a fully electric engine running off fuel cells that power the four-wheel drive system that is mated to it. The engine system set is different though than any other EV we have seen so far. The Nissan Terra Concept is power by three separate engines, one engine to power the front wheels, a similar setup to that of the Nissan Leaf, and then to hydrogen engines to power the real wheels. Allowing you to conserve energy when the rear-wheel power is not needed on city roads.

Nissan chooses the hydrogen cells at a time when the fuel cells stacks are dropping in price, making this a real possibility as a production vehicle. The only real think holding Nissan back from a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle is the lack of a hydrogen fuel infrastructure like hydrogen fuel stations. Which is currently one of the issues with electric vehicles

Check out this video of the new Nissan Terra Concept. Who knows it may not be long before these hit the streets and gas prices no longer matter.

Nissan’s Paris Motor Show Plans

Nissan has some big plans for this upcoming Paris Motor Show. The Paris Motor Show begins Saturday September 29th and runs until October 14th. This year at the show Nissan has many new concepts and even a few production vehicles to introduce to the world. Here are a few of them.. we don’t want to ruin all the fun for everyone.

The Nissan TeRRA concept car- The Nissan TeRRA concept car is a four-seater vehicle that is completely powered by hydrogen fuel cells, offers all-wheel drive capabilities, and has a Zero Emissions standard. This new concept is one that Nissan is very excited about because it puts them even further ahead in the Zero Emissions category.

The Juke NISMO- The Juke NISMO will be the official launch of the NISMO road car program. Before all NISMO vehicles were made for the track, though you could purchase NISMO parts for your vehicle. The new Juke NISMO will be served with a heavily modified 1.6 Liter direct injection Turbocharged engine, and will also come with an aerodynamics package and revised chassis to give everyday drivers a whole new look at performance cars.

The Micra ELLE- The Micra ELLE is a stylish designed mini car, co-developed by none other than the world-famous fashion magazine, ELLE. The Micra ELLE will show off many sides of luxury and technology. The Micra ELLE also brings two new colors to the Micra range vehicle and will be available with two engine options: a 1.2 Liter three-cylinder engine, or a 1.2 Liter supercharged DIG-S engine.

Well these are only a small sampling of the things Nissan plans to bring to the Paris Motor Show this year, you’ll have to stay tuned to get the full count of Nissan’s Global debuts.

Nissan Targets Football Fans in New Campaign

Are you one of those people that frees your schedule for every Saturday and Sunday from September until February? That guy that is painted up even if you’re watching the game from your living room? Well Nissan’s new campaign is going to hit home for you then.

Nissan has gathered up as many former Heisman Trophy Winners they can find, and put them together in a house dubbed the “Heisman House”, and they even went as far as to get 2011 Heisman winner Robert Griffin III. Other big names that join Griffin are Archie Griffin, Herschel Walker, Matt Leinart, and even a guest appearance from Rudy star Sean Astin.

Together these Heisman winners don’t really have much to do with Nissan as a whole, but different Nissan models such as the Nissan Leaf, Nissan Altima, and the Nissan 370Z Roadster pop up in the videos. Check out all the videos below.

The 2013 Nissan Sentra Debuts

After a long wait, and many attempts at a spy shot, the all-new 2013 Nissan Sentra makes its debut. And though it won’t be launched until later this fall, we have the information needed to peak your interest.

The 2013 Nissan Sentra follows in the footsteps of Nissan’s larger Altima sedan, in terms of design, upgraded technology, and most of all fuel economy. The Sentra offers premium touches for a compact such as LED running lamps, 17-inche wheels, and LED taillamps. Under the hood the new Sentra has actually received a downgrade, as the engine is decreased from a 2.0-Liter inline four to a 1.8-Liter unit. But on the flip side the compact has also lost 150 lbs compared to the former model. This being said the engine produces 130 HP and 128 Lbs.-Ft. of Torque and is mated to the company’s next-generation Xtronic continuously variable transmission. Only the base 2013 Nissan Sentra S is available with a six-speed manual transmission. The new CVT means that fuel economy is vastly improved, with most of the models rated a 34 MPG. Adding the extra-efficient FE+ trim package will net you a full 40 MPG on the highway with the new CVT!

In addition to the S, S FE+, SV, SV FE+ and SL, Nissan will offer an SR trim that adds unique five-spoke 17-inch alloys, sport front and rear fascias, a sport front grille, lower body side sill extensions, fog lights, a rear spoiler and a chrome exhaust tip. Sadly, no suspension or powertrain upgrades are included with the “sporty” SR, but inside, silver trim is mixed in with unique cloth seats.

So at last the long wait is over, well to see it at least, now we just have to wait for the new 2013 Nissan Sentra to hit lots before we can get our hands on one.
