2016 Nissan Titan XD Set to Take On Competitors

EngNissan - Lewis Nissanineered and designed in the United States, the 2016 Nissan Titan XD brought its own style to the Detroit Auto Show. The newly designed, full-size pickup is ready to throw down with the other major full-size pickup truck sellers, namely Chevrolet and Ford. With an improved towing capacity; new, more powerful, yet more fuel efficient engine; and a sweet interior, there’s no reason not to check out this truck.

The new Titan XD weighs in between full-size and heavy-duty pickup classes. Lighter than three-quarters of a ton yet more capable than a half-ton, the XD is a powerhouse. Under the hood you’ll find a 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V8 engine that puts out 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque. With the right tow package, the truck can haul up to 12,000 pounds. The maximum payload hits 2,000 pounds. The new design is more aerodynamic as well. The Titan XD hits showrooms later this year. New Nissan Titan XD Heads for Hollywood

The Nissan Titan XD just recently burst onto the scene up in Detroit. An all-new version of Nissan’s full-size truck, the XD debuted at the North American International Auto Show. But just like a budding movie star who made his or her name in a small indie film, the Titan XD is already headed to bigger things—like Hollywood. In fact, the XD is on its way from Detroit to Los Angeles to make a string of public appearances.

Nissan Titan XDThe new Titan, wearing a beautiful, bright yellow exterior, will showcase its powerful and muscular new appearance in several places across Los Angeles. If you can’t make it to the appearances, you can still follow the truck thanks to the hashtag #NissanTITAN.

However, if you want to test out the Titan XD’s amazing new 5.0-liter engine from Cummins, you’ll have to actually come see us here at Lewis Nissan later this year to get behind the wheel for yourself. For now, the LA appearances can whet your appetite, but to really get the full experience, you’ll need to take a test drive and learn the Titan’s new design for yourself.

Nissan GT Academy 4 Winner Dominates the Competition

GT Academy 4 WinnerImagine being 21 years old and getting the chance to make your dreams come true via a once-in-a-lifetime competition. This is exactly what happened to Wisconsin native, Nic Hamman. He rose above the competition and earned a spot in the fourth season of the North American GT Academy. Then, right from the start, he dominated the competition and earned a spot at the top of the podium.

Hamman, the GT Academy 4 winner, showed he had what it takes to be a professional Nissan racer with his physical abilities, excellent teamwork, ability to perform under pressure, and, of course, his speed on the track. In the final race of the competition, he finished a full eight seconds ahead of the pack.

“It takes a lot of money to do any kind of professional racing,” said Hamman, in a statement. “What GT Academy and Nissan have done is give someone a shot at racing top-notch racing cars with professional mechanics and pit support without the financial windfall that kind of thing requires. I am so grateful to be able to do this, and I can’t wait to get to my first professional race in January.”

You’ll be able to catch Hamman in his first professional race on January 8th – 10th in the Dubai 24 Hours.

Here at Lewis Nissan, we want to congratulate Nic Hamman on this phenomenal achievement, and we can’t wait to see how he performs as a professional racer.

Taxi of Tomorrow Start Date in NYC Announced, Despite Controversy

Taxi of Tomorrow Start DateThe Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) of New York City has set April 20, 2015, as the start date for its upcoming Taxi of Tomorrow program, which replaces older, retiring taxi cars with wheelchair-accessible Nissan NV200 minivans.

What seems like an obvious decision wasn’t particularly easy to set in motion, however. Former mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg had announced this decision previously, only to be sued by officials in the yellow taxi industry.

Current mayor Bill de Blasio has finally overcome these obstacles, setting New York’s public transportation on a safer, more inclusive path. That’s great news for Nissan, whose NV200 minivans are set to make up almost 80 percent of the city’s taxi fleet.

Many Nissan NV200s have already been in service on NYC streets, establishing a history of consistent product success. In addition to their wheelchair-accessibility, these minivans meet international standards that aim to soften the impact on a pedestrian, if one was to be struck.

Hopefully, as the Taxi of Tomorrow start date looms closer, similar programs will crop up all over the country. What do you think? Let us at Lewis Nissan know your thoughts in the comments.
