Get the Ride of Your Life in the Nissan Altima

2015 Nissan Altima - Ride of Your LifeWhen you think about a four-door sedan, racetrack thrills usually don’t come to mind. However, for a lucky group of people that’s exactly what they got with the 2015 Nissan Altima. This was all part of Nissan’s second “Ride of Your Life” campaign.

Last year, in the Ride of Your Life campaign, participants were told they were going for a ride in a real racecar; however, this car turned out to be the 2014 Altima in disguise. For this year’s fun, lucky guests were invited to a mall and each got a turn to attempt to “unlock” a large glass box. For the lucky few that got the box to open, they found a bright red 2015 Altima. A professional driver then took them on some thrilling laps around the track. And then, the passengers were given the chance to be the drivers.

“Consumer response to last year’s campaign was so strong, we just had to play it again, even bigger and better,” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing Communications and Media, Nissan North America, in a statement. “You can see the excitement on the participants’ faces when the Altima is revealed at the mall, and especially after their track ride-and-drive experience – reinforcing our belief that Altima is no ordinary mid-size sedan.”

Canadian Journalists Go On 7-Day “Altimate Rogue Trip”

If there’s something we love even more than cars here at Lewis Nissan, it’s bad puns. Last week, more than a dozen Canadian journalists drove some new 2015 Nissan Altimas and 2015 Nissan Rogue crossovers on a driving adventure that Nissan has called the “Altimate Rogue Trip.” We’re amused.

Altimate Rogue Trip - Nissan RogueThe road trip took place on the famous U.S. Route 66 over the course of seven days and 4,000 kilometers—about 2,485 miles for our Imperial unit-loving readers. They left from Chicago and reached Cuba (Missouri, not the island!) on day 1, Tulsa on day 2, then Amarillo, Santa Ana Pueblo, Albuquerque, Kingman, and after seven days, reached Santa Monica, their final destination. Or should we say they “Altimately” reached Santa Monica? Careful, any more bad puns and our editors might go Rogue on us!

For our entertainment, Nissan produced short clips reviewing each day’s interesting happenings. You can find all of the videos on Nissan Canada’s official YouTube channel!

Nissan Sentra and Altima To Get A Balanced Facelift

Nissan SentraWhen it comes to doing a refresh on new models, every carmaker walks a tightrope.  How do you make improvements while at the same time maintaining those qualities that fans and enthusiasts expect and appreciate?  Nissan is planning a refresh of their Sentra and Altima lines and it’s clear from comments by Shiro Nakamura, Nissan’s design chief, that the Japanese carmaker plans to be very careful about the process.

The refresh for these two models will take a page from the Nissan Murano and Nissan Maxima.  Nakamura says that the “very futuristic and strong statements” that these cars exude will lend the same attractive qualities to the Sentra and Altima.

Both models, the Nissan Sentra and the Nissan Altima, have been called “plain-looking” by journalists.  But sales are remarkably strong, so Nissan has to be doing something right.  Right?  Nakamura says the next generation will be “sporty” but still roomy and “affordable and practical.”  Now that’s balance!

We at Lewis Nissan are looking forward to these new changes. Until they arrive, stop by and check out Nissan’s great current models!

Best-Selling Altima Ups the Ante for 2015

2014 Nissan AltimaNissan has announced some exciting changes to the Altima for 2015. Several trims will feature improved standard features, impressive technology, and a variety of options in an effort to make one of Nissan’s best-selling cars, even better.

The Altima’s top two V-6 trim levels will now come standard with NissanConnect infotainment system which features navigation and apps, and driver assist safety technology including blind spot warning, moving object detection and lane departure warning.

The mid-level 2.5 and 3.5 SV models will see a new 8-way power driver’s seat, and in an effort to improve fuel economy, the 3.5-liter V-6 Altimas have been tweaked for a one mile-per-gallon increase in fuel economy ratings, now getting 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined.

Another small, but welcomed update is the black carpeting and lower side trim that now comes with the beige interiors. The contrasting new interior not only appears sleeker, but conveniently hides dirt that inevitably makes its way to the floor mats.

Along with these updates come with a bit of a price jump across all trim levels (except the Altima 2.5 S, which dropped in price). The jump is minimal compared to the features gained, and we think the updates are well worth the price.
