Getting ready to take a summer vacation usually means a long road trip ahead of you. Before you take off to your premier destination for some rest and relaxation, it’s best to check some things in your vehicle. After all, there’s no rest for those who experience the stress of long delays and car repairs ruining their vacation. Here are some things to check before a road trip as suggested by us here at Lewis Nissan!
- Fluids – Take the time to make sure all of your oils are at the right level and fresh enough to stand up to the summer heat and a long journey. Have the oil changed prior to any long road trip. It wouldn’t hurt to have the coolant flushed and replaced to avoid any potential overheating problems.
- Tires – Double check to make sure you have enough tread to ensure optimal traction on the road. It pays to make sure the tires are properly inflated according to the manufacturer’s specifications, too. Doing so will increase both handling and fuel economy, two factors that can make any trip a little easier.
- Lights – Make sure all the lights are working properly. Turn on all the lights, including the turn signals. Replace any dead bulbs before the day you plan to leave on your trip.
