The Nissan Z Concept Gets Grand Reveal in Tokyo

Set to replace the Nissan 370Z, speculation on the Nissan Z concept shows a promising future

Nissan reportedly has big plans for the upcoming Tokyo Auto Show – including the debut of the brand new Nissan Z Concept model, which aims to ultimately replace the extremely popular Nissan 370Z sometime in the future.

The Nissan Z is said to be available with three different powertrain options, a 3.0-liter V6 engine that gets 300 horsepower, a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that gets 400 horsepower, and a hybrid combination, adding an electric motor to the 400-horsepower engine.

Though the Nissan Z that will be on display is said to be just a concept, rumor has it that a production model will follow its reveal in the next few years. It’s safe to assume that the production version of the Nissan Z will be quite similar to the concept that will be on display in Tokyo.

Next-Generation Nissan 370Z Could Be Called Simply “Z”

We like choices. It’s empowering! Okay, maybe we don’t need 30 different kinds of chewing gum from which to choose. But when it comes to engine options on what will inevitably be one of the finest sports cars on the road, it’s not excessive at all. Call it necessary.

Next-Generation Nissan 370ZCarAdvice is reporting on what Nissan will be putting under the hood of the model expected to succeed the Nissan 370Z. It’s a fine line, so goes the report. The sports car will be offered in both Europe and the States. V6 engines “are basically extinct” in the Old World, and yet what we in the States loved about the 370Z was power. What to do?!

In an interview with the publication, Roel de Vries, Nissan’s corporate vice president and global head of marketing and brand strategy, said, “I think an engine is never a need or must, because what you need is to deliver on what the car stands for and if the 370Z stands for real performance and real driving I think it doesn’t need a V6 to do that.”

Well, looks like the name may change then. 370Z was taken from the engine displacement spec, 3.7-liter. Vries also notes that displacement is not the name of the game anymore. It’s about pure performance, not numbers in this brave new fuel-efficient world.

Nissan Rolls Out a Special Customer Service-Centric Promotion

August 1st marked the launch of Nissan’s “Keep Summer Rolling” service promotion. The “Keep Summer Rolling” campaign is a unique customer service-centric promotion that helps promote Nissan’s customer service mission. The promotion allows for Nissan owners in the United States to have a chance at winning big ticket prizes, such as a 2014 Nissan Altima sedan, 370Z sports car and Pathfinder SUV. There are also other “instant win” service offerings. It’s designed to driver interest and service lane traffic to Nissan dealerships, where the customer will find a great experience waiting for them.

John Spoon, vice president, Parts & Service, Nissan North America, said “Nissan’s mission is to give our customers the best experience throughout the lifecycle of the vehicle. Customer service is at the heart of our proactive customer engagement commitment, which is most apparent to our customers at their local dealerships. This promotion is designed to make servicing our customers’ vehicles even easier for them, while also reminding them of the great offerings available at their dealers”.
